Jackson, an English Bulldog, throws the camera a grin that anyone would be charmed by. When I got this photo reference for his custom portrait, I knew this handsome and jolly dog would make a fun custom painting. Jackson's eye is a great color with wonderful patterns in it, and his ear, what a contrast. And I wanted a background color that would complement, not steal the thunder. I certainly believe English Bulldogs are one of those great dogs to paint. I smile every time I see a picture of this portrait. I really do like square canvases for certain dogs and Jackson was a perfect fit with his square head. I like my portraits to show up from a distance so you can see your dog's portrait from the kitchen or the den. The portraits can be left unframed, I paint around the edges so they look very nice. They also are ready to hang when they arrive. This portrait was commissioned by a client who gave it as a birthday gift to Jackson's owner. These portraits are wonderful gifts that will be cherished a lifetime.
